When are you open?
We are open 10AM-6PM, Monday thru Saturday.
What is your return policy?
We offer a 30 day satisfaction guarantee on all of our jewelry except Bargain Basement items.
What kind of guarantee do you give with my jewelry purchase? What if a stone falls out?
We guarantee our workmanship. The stones will not fall out. If a stone falls out and is lost due to faulty workmanship, we will replace it. We will not replace the stone if it falls out due to normal wear or accidents. We do clean and check your prongs for free. We recommend that you come in about every 6 months. The reason we do not charge for this service is that we want to encourage you to use it. If you feel a prong catching or if you notice a bent, cracked, or broken prong, you should come and see us immediately. Care and maintenance of your jewelry is your responsibility, but we will do what we can to help you in this matter.
How much does it cost to size a ring?
The price for sizing a ring can vary substantially depending on a number of factors including: number of stones, the width of the band, the degree of size change, and the type of metal. Most size jobs cost between $28 and $130. Our prices include the cost of checking and tightening loose stones and rhodium plating white gold jewelry.
Is ring sizing a simple process? What should I be concerned about when having my ring sized?
Ring sizing requires a high degree of skill. If a ring is not sized properly, the integrity and strength of the ring can be compromised. An improperly sized ring can also cause the gemstone to fall out at a later time. While many jewelers size the ring the quickest way, we do it the best way. We spare no materials and no time to deliver the best quality workmanship to our customers.
Do you trade jewelry?
We do not trade in old jewelry for new jewelry. However, if you bought a diamond from us in the past and would like to trade that diamond in for a larger one, you may trade in the original diamond at the price you paid for it. This only applies to loose diamonds and center diamonds in a ring.
Do you buy jewelry?
Although we do not pay cash for scrap gold and old jewelry, we will accept scrap gold for credit against goods or services from Gannaway Bros. Jewelers.
Do you repair watches or replace batteries?
We do not repair watches. However we do replace batteries and adjust watch bands.
Do you do custom work?
We have specialized in custom made jewelry for 33 years. While many custom jewelers have a very narrow range of artistic expression, Gannaway Bros. Jewelers endeavors to effectively express what our customers want to express. The artistic inspiration comes from our customers, not ourselves. The consequence is that we have worked with many different styles and have honed many different skills over time which allows us personalize our customers’ desires in gold, silver, or platinum. While most custom jewelers spend hours on a piece, we spend days. We hold ourselves to a very high standard. Our goal for every piece of jewelry that we make is that it be our personal best. We guarantee satisfaction with all of our custom work.
How soon can you finish my repair?
Generally we require 2 weeks for repairs. Repairs can be completed earlier for an additional charge.
Do you send your repair jobs to be done elsewhere?
Most of the repairs are done in house by three master goldsmiths with a total of 74 years of experience. Sometimes another person’s expertise or equipment is needed to finish a repair. In those cases, after we have first informed the customer of our intentions, we will send their jewelry to proven professionals who have a history of doing excellent work.
How do I know I am getting my diamond back and it hasn’t been switched?
If you have a certificate with your diamond, the diamond can be examined to see whether it matches the certificate. Most jewelry comes without detailed documentation and you must therefore develop a relationship with a jeweler you can trust. It will be worth your effort to investigate and find a jeweler that has a long track record of integrity and a good reputation in his/her community.
How often should I bring my ring in to be checked?
We recommend that you have your ring checked every 6 months. Replacing a lost diamond is much more expensive than having your ring repaired. Always stay on the safe side and bring it in. We gladly clean and check your rings while you wait for free.
What’s the difference between Karat (i.e. 14K gold) and carat (i.e. 2 ct diamond)?
Karat: used in describing the gold content in jewelry.
14K Gold = 14/24 = 58.5% gold
18K Gold = 18/24 = 75% gold
Carat: unit of weight used with gemstones. 1 carat = 1/5 gram
What’s does it mean when a jeweler says that a diamond is 34 “points”?
The most common misconception is that a point refers to the physical pointed parts of the diamond. This is not correct. A point is another way of talking about the weight of a diamond for diamonds less than 1 carat. A 34 point diamond is a .34 carat diamond. A 65 point diamond is a .65 carat diamond.
Why are there different colors of gold?
In the case of 14K gold, there is 14 parts gold and 10 parts alloy (some other metal). Different alloys give the gold different colors. In the case of white gold, nickel is the primary metal which gives it the white color.
